Stocker Oil began in June of 1940. Theodore Stocker, 16 years old at the time, bought Tenny's Oil Company. Ted started off selling kerosene fuel for lamps and stoves by two-gallon increments at a store. December of 1940, World War II was beginning and Ted enlisted into the Navy. Deferred until 1941, Ted kept working to improve the oil company. With no plans for the company, Ted gave his customers to Perley Burrill (not the same Perley Burrill who is in business today). When Ted returned in 1946 Perley gave the company back to Ted, along with many more customers as Perley had expanded since he left.
During the 1960s Teddy incorporated the business and changed the name to Stocker Oil Inc. He bought an oil truck with pump and Stocker Oil has been making home deliveries ever since. In 1975 Ted sold the business to his son, Richard Stocker, after he had graduated from Northeastern University. Richard has continued the growth of the business into what it is today!
