Mel Jenkins has been actively involved in planning and constructing metal buildings since 1975. Even before then, he had worked alongside his father Ernest Jenkins and uncle Bennie Jenkins who began the family business in 1964. When Mel had the opportunity to go into partnership in Jenkins Building Materials, Inc. it was a time of growth in the company. The business was involved in constructing farm equipment and hay storage buildings, livestock sale barns, hay barns, shop buildings, and in time, the sale of pre-engineered buildings.
