In 1998, Jim created and built The Roofing Company & The Remodeling Company into name brands in the Hampton Roads Market. In 2011, while still maintaining a significant percentage of ownership in both firms, Jim moved on from active management as their President. Pursuing a longtime vision of building a premier professional contracting firm, Jim recruited the top talent in the market and created Jim Hicks Home Improvement. Jim's vision for the new firm was for it to be a full service contractor providing the level of service that his clients had come to expect from him. Thanks in part to Jim's reputation as a contractor, radio personality and columnist, but mostly due to his entire team's commitment level of service to it's clients, the company quickly established itself as a premier professional contracting firm in Hampton Roads, VA and is a respected member of the contracting industry today.
