Steve Pietila joined the founder of the company Tim McAllister in 1990. The two worked together and built what was to become the most highly respected chimney service company in the Portland area. Tim a real artist, began to explore opportunities in the areas of computer systems and music.
It wasn't long before Tim sold the remaining shares of the company and Steve took the helm solo. It must be mentioned here that this business arrangement violated every text book rule. Steve and Tim were friends going into business together. They made no written agreement, nor did they agree how they would handle the transfer of ownership should that become necessary in the future. When they both felt it was time to make a change they simply made the decision, and came to what they both felt a fair arrangement over a cup of coffee. It is on this basis of trust and commitment to integrity and fairness that American Chimney and Masonry, Inc. was founded and will continue to conduct itself.
