July 25th, 2002, Whitfield's Lawn & Garden Specialists was born. In 1997 I was afforded the opportunity to go to school for Horticulture and I took it. I received my first degree in Landscape Management in 1999 and my second degree in Greenhouse Specialist in the year 2000. At that point in my life, I did not foresee being able to work for somebody else and earn a living wage that would provide for myself, my wife, and 4 children. I was 45 years old at that time and figured there is no better day to get started in business than today. Whitfield's Lawn & Garden Specialists was officially registered with the State of IA at a whopping cost of $6 on July 25th, 2002.
My goal was to achieve financial independence for myself and my family. I am proud and blessed to still be operating today after 16 years. I was able to raise my 4 children with this business and now this business helps raise 13 of my grandchildren!
